About the work
Master’s House is an ongoing archive of black and white images depicting household objects I own. The photos are a direct response to Audre Lorde’s essay, The Master’s Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master’s House. My initial response led me to archive all the physical tools in my house–taking the essay literally. This clinical documentation now serves as departure point to investigate specific historical apparatus like the Peekskill Riots and The Fugitive Slave Law.
